Xuexiu Chang
Adjunct Professor, Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research, University of Windsor since 2018
Professor, College of Agronomy and Life Sciences, Kunming University (China) since 2022

Introduction:
I have researched the ecotoxicology of cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms (cyanoHABs) on various organisms, including microbiota, green algae, diatoms, water fleas, higher plants, and fish, focusing on their exudates of toxic secondary metabolites. Collaborating with an international team from institutions in Canada (Universities of Windsor), the United States (Ohio State University), Germany (Leibniz-Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries), and China (Kunming University, Yunnan University, Kunming Institute of Zoology at Chinese Academy of Sciences), I aim to evaluate the impacts of cyanoHABs on aquatic ecosystems and the associated risks to water quality and human health using a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach.
